Two projects were completed at the Perth Children’s Hospital to reflect a love for children and the desire to care for them.

The Hive is an interactive wall that promotes play and exercise for patients. Eight types of interactive modules have been repeated throughout the wall. All operated from a central CPU also located in the wall, these digital units, including sound sequencing, lighting, vibration and music are operated by the user through microwave sensors that trigger an ever-evolving programmed response. Through this interactive piece the artists celebrate the importance of connection, interaction and play.

As a continuation of The Hive, the idea of community was extended to the lighting for the Recovery Garden. A series of four stainless steel base units, each with eight tall reed-like lights are designed to be programmed for colour change and brightness. As well as being architecturally eye-catching they provide a relaxing pulse of light across the garden, creating a quite space to rest, restore and regroup.
